Fall has arrived! Already the leaves have started to change colors and to fall. Leaf removal is a difficult and time-consuming job for homeowners and we would like to relieve that responsibility. CLIP Lawn Care’s Leaf Cleanup service includes blowing and/or raking and collecting the leaves on your property. Typically, we either bag the leaves or leave them for the city to pick up (where available). Another option is for us to haul the leaves away for you. All options are described in the document below. Overseeding
Overseeding is recommended for your lawn when aeration is performed. Overseeding helps maintain a thick lawn and revives bare spots. When overseeding is performed at the same time as aeration, the seeds have a greater chance of germinating and growing because of increased contact with the soil.\

In general, turf grasses need about 3/4" — 1" of water per week to maintain green color and active growth.
Very soon, we will begin treating for grub prevention. Do you know why?
Grubs are the early stage of many beetles. Japanese beetle is one common beetle that most people in our area are familiar with which has a grub stage. Japanese beetles are about to hatch very soon be all over the place in your lawn. Besides the damage that the adults can do to the plants in your garden, their babies can have an equally negative impact on your lawn. As you will see in the diagram below, during July, the mother beetles will lay their eggs under the ground. These babies will soon hatch and begin to grow by feeding on grass roots! They love the roots of thick, healthy grass. This is why we need to apply preventative grub control on the lawn.

Have you had grubs in the past? If you have had grubs in the past, it is likely that you will have grubs this year.
A common symptom of grub damage is a dead area of your lawn that is easily pull up (like carpet).

Because of the rain almost every day this week, we are running about two days behind schedule with some variations.
We will be mowing Saturday and Monday to catch up.
The variation is that some houses in Potomac, Rockville, and Gaithersburg have been delayed more than two days. This is due to the poor drainage on many of the lawns in that area which would cause damage with our mowers. We will do our best to finish all of these areas by Saturday. Germantown, Boyds, Clarksburg and Urbana will be done on Saturday or Monday.
